Quoted from EMB: "To all C2 Econs students: Keen to show off your prowess in Econs? Are you seeking something more exciting and more challenging way of tesing yourself than the usual pen-and-paper?? Mastermind: Economics (previously known as Economics Idol) is an annual college quiz organised by the Econs Unit for all C2 H1 & H2 Econs students. It mimicks after the National Econs & Fund Management Quiz (NEFMQ) organised by NUS for all junior colleges. Rules and Regulations: - All Year 2 CTs taking Econs are encouraged to send at least four students to take part in the preliminary round. Potential candidates will be shortlisted by your respective Econs tutor. - It will be a written test of 40 MCQs to be completed in 80 minutes. Questions will be set on both Year 1 and 2 Econs Syllabus and major economic events / facts around the world. - We will select the top 4 scorers from each CT and take the average score. - Afterwhich, the top four CTs (with the highest average score) will be selected to go through the finals, held in the form of: 1. Team round 2. Buzzer/speed round 3. Audience round - The quiz is COMPULSORY for all students who have been short-listed for NEFMQ 2007. It will be a good opportunity to get prepared for the NEFMQ 2007, which will consist of a mixture of MCQs and short- answer questions. ATTRACTIVE PRIZES: - The top scorer of the preliminary round will receive a Kinokuniya Book Voucher ($15)!! - The top 4 teams will receive ATTRACTIVE HAMPERS!! - All finalists will receive certificates of participation. DATE & TIME: The compulsory preliminary round will be held on 17 April 2007 (Tues), 1530 - 1730hr in LT1. The finals will be held on 25 April 2007 (Fri), during Year 2 CT Period, in LT2.
