Well done for a successful SANDsational Race!!!

Dear all,

first of all, let me say a very big WELL DONE for the SANDsational Race @ Sentosa!!! A pat on the shoulder especially to Alex, who had planned the game and get his school's student leaders to help him as station master. Also, thanks to Mike for helping with the packing of goodies and prizes, Mdm Toh and husband for transporting all the things into Sentosa and William for staying throughout the event to help in phototaking. Well done!

Moving on, hope that we can take this experience and share it with the rest of the committee members. Perhaps, in the next YEC meeting, Alex can share about the challenges faced in getting the teams, the execution of the event as well as what can be improved on in the next event. I see this as a start of a series of events organised by YEC and i hope to see many more exciting events coming up. William, pls also remember to keep all the photos in a CD so that next time, we can showcase the YEC using the footages.

Here's some observation and recommendations i observed for this event:
  • Alex is the organiser for this event, he is also the one getting the students to help out as well as getting friends to participate. I thought it will be great if the committee can help to really push for participation, and allow Alex to concentrate on the planning of the games. It is also good to have 1 logistic IC to take care of the logistic arrangements including food arrangements on the day. It is rather taxing for Alex alone to handle all aspects of the event on the actual day. Would be great if there would be some helping hands.
  • More members should support by coming on the actual day, just to help out in miscellaneous things like photo taking, taking care of food etc. Also a good chance to mingle with the students as well as participation. In this way, can build a bond with them for future events.

Post event:
  • I had brought up to Mdm Toh that YEC can give all the student leaders a PAssion card each, complimentary, as a token of appreciation. In this way, they will be able to enjoy privileges and YEC get to increase membership. Since it is only $10 now, i think it is a good investment. In future, it would also be easier to get them into YEC.
  • For the student leaders, CIP points can be awarded for this project. Hence, Alex had sent me a sample letter and i had made some amendments. It would be good if this letter can be signed by Veronica and printed on YEC letterhead, to be given to the student's teacher incharge, to clock the hours for them. Veron, pls look through the letter to see if there's anything to add. If ok, can let Mdm Toh know so that she can assist to print out and let you sign.
  • Apart from the above letter for the teacher, it would be good if YEC can give certificates of appreciation to these students, for them to include in their portfolio. This would be a good gesture and hopefully, in future, they would help out in YEC events. Perhaps, Mike or William can design and get it printed on hard paper?
  • For all the above, i was thinking to further engage these students, YEC can invite all of them to come down on the next YEC meeting day and present the certs and letter to them. Had found out from Alex that exams will start on end of Sept. So better get them to come in August's meeting. :>

The above are just my recommendations, committee feel free to discuss and decide which is better. Let me know if i can be of help!

Think that's bout all, seeya soon.

PS: Pls email me on my personal email in the cc list if my office address bounced.

Thank you!
